Daly House Museum has teamed up with Rainbarrel.ca to host a Rain Barrel Fundraiser sale this summer – buy a barrel, save water, support the Victorian Garden.

“We are excited to be able to offer our community a chance to obtain these rain barrels made from recycled food grade barrels.” commented Daly House curator Eileen Trott. “The fundraiser will help the Museum and our volunteers to keep this beautiful community garden open to the public seven days a week.  We want to keep the garden available for a friendly outdoor get together or private events like weddings.”

Please see below for some FAQ about our fundraiser. If you have further questions, please contact Eileen at dalymuseum@wcgwave.ca or 204-727-1722.

Why are Rain Barrels so important?

Any local gardener can tell you about the benefits of rain water when it comes to growing vegetables, flowers or their lawn.  Rain water is free from the harmful fluorides and chlorine often added to municipal drinking water systems.  The use of free rain water reduces demands on local water systems and can result in lower water bills.  A rain barrel can also minimize damage caused by heavy rains events by redirecting water away from your home’s foundation. If you are committed to ensuring your lawn or garden is healthy and are committed to supporting your local community green space, please consider purchasing a rain barrel.  They are a great way to save water, energy and money at home.
