Volunteers play a crucial role in the daily operations of Daly House Museum (DHM). Whether it’s providing one-hour tour a month or helping to make our Victorian Garden beautiful! Anyone can volunteer!
Joining the DHM team is an excellent way of making friends and enjoying the experience of the museum. The DHM welcomes volunteers of all ages and skills. No historical or gardening background or knowledge necessary. All training is provided and scheduling is flexible.

Museum Docent
Docent training is provided periodically for anyone interested in leading museum tours. Docents should be comfortable speaking to groups of people of all ages and backgrounds. They should be committed to learning more about this area’s history and families. Community outreach events provide additional opportunities for docents to share their knowledge.

Gardeners
Do you have a green thumb and some spare time? We always need help weeding, watering, and maintaining the Victorian Garden. DHM garden volunteers help make the garden a beautiful setting for weddings and events at the museum. They help in the planning, planting, and maintenance of the grounds in the style of a Victorian era garden. Garden volunteers met every Tuesday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday afternoons from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. No gardening experience is necessary but a love for nature is welcome. No minimum time requirement.

Special Events Volunteer
Help at DHM events Strawberry Socials, Mother’s Day Teas, and more. Duties may include: serving tea, preparing food, greeting guests, supervising visitors, and more. No minimum time requirement

The minimum age to volunteer is 14
All volunteers will go through an orientation on the history of the house and visitor services. They will receive further training according to their duties.
