UPDATE: The Old Time Radio Show & Dinner has been postponed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  A date for the event in June is to be announced.  All previously purchased tickets will be honored.

Relive the golden age of radio at Daly House Museum’s Annual Gala Dinner on Thursday March 19th at the Ukrainian Reading Association Hall. Fare at the event will include a complete roast beef dinner and the presentation of an “Old Time Radio Show” staged by local theatre group, the Assiniboine Theatre Company. Proceeds from the event will go to Daly House Museum, to support the archives and research for future exhibits.

Beginning at 6 PM, guests will have the opportunity to step back in time to the days when broadcasts of live drama, comedy, music, and news characterized the golden age of radio.  In addition to the radio show, there will be draws and prizes.

Set in the Brandon area during Manitoba’s 150 years and earlier, the radio show will feature historical figures from the past including enigmatic personalities such as Donald “Mad” McKay, the founder of the first Hudson Bay Company post called “Brandon House” in 1793.

Actors from the Assiniboine Theatre Company are busy preparing for the event.  “We are delighted that the Assiniboine Theatre Company has agreed to create and perform the radio show for us.” stated Museum Chair, Alex Essery; “The dinner will be wonderful way to celebrate Manitoba’s 150th Anniversary while supporting our local heritage.”

Daly House Museum is truly one of Brandon’s cultural treasurers. Don’t miss your chance to support it and have a great evening.  Tickets are only $60 for non-members and $55 for members. Charitable receipts will be issued for a portion of the ticket price.  Call 204-727-1722 to order your tickets. Deadline is Saturday March 14th.
